Icelandic Sheepskins

Wild, Woolly & Unique

Wild woolly Icelandic sheepskin pelt rug on a modern living room floor

At Noryageur, one of our specialties is offering premium Icelandic sheepskin & lambskins from Iceland.

Our hides come from flocks that are organically raised and free-range.

Icelandic wool is distinct when comparing it to other breeds since the fiber feels more like hair than wool and it has a flat pile that’s non-directional. The sheep have two layers, the tough water repellent outer layer (tog) and the downy soft inner layer (thel). Icelandic sheep often have hair up to 10″ long!

This two layer wool produces a stunning texture and a pelt that’s soft, light-weight, supple and very warm!

The long fur is easy to maintain by periodically brushing your sheepskin with a metal slicker style brush and vigorously shaking it to release any dust.

In addition to our long-wool Icelandic sheepskin rugs, we also offer select 2″ shorn Icelandic lambskins for customers seeking a shorter pile and easier maintenance while retaining the beauty and softness of authentic Icelandic wool.
