Icelandic sheepskin is known for its distinctive Nordic character, natural texture, and beautifully varied wool. Long-wool Icelandic sheepskins are prized for their dramatic 5-9 inch flowing wool, while shorn Icelandic lambskins offer the same natural character in a shorter, softer, lower-maintenance finish.
It can be used beautifully as either. Icelandic sheepskins work well as chair throws, bench covers, sofa accents, bedside layers, and decorative rugs. Long-wool Icelandic sheepskins create a dramatic, flowing look, while shorn Icelandic lambskins offer a shorter wool pile, lower-maintenance finish that works great as a rug or throw.
Icelandic sheepskins are easy to enjoy with simple care. Shake them out occasionally, air them naturally when needed, and keep them away from heavy soil, excess moisture, and high-traffic entry areas. Brush only long, straight-wool Icelandic sheepskins when appropriate. Shorn wool sheepskins rarely, if ever, need brushing — just a quick shake. Curly Icelandic sheepskins should not be brushed at all.
