No. Natural sheepskins vary in wool length, color, markings, texture, and shape. This piece was individually selected because its natural character cannot be repeated.
Yes. A sheepskin rug can be used beautifully on a chair, bench, sofa, or other seating area. Sheepskins are especially useful for softening hard chairs, adding warmth to accent chairs, covering benches, or creating a cozy layered look in reading nooks, bedrooms, and living spaces.
Icelandic sheepskin is known for its distinctive Nordic character, natural texture, and beautifully varied wool. Long-wool Icelandic sheepskins are prized for their dramatic 5-9 inch flowing wool, while shorn Icelandic lambskins offer the same natural character in a shorter, softer, lower-maintenance finish.
It can be used beautifully as either. Icelandic sheepskins work well as chair throws, bench covers, sofa accents, bedside layers, and decorative rugs. Long-wool Icelandic sheepskins create a dramatic, flowing look, while shorn Icelandic lambskins offer a shorter wool pile, lower-maintenance finish that works great as a rug or throw.
Icelandic sheepskins are easy to care for and enjoy for years. Simply shake them out every couple of weeks, air them naturally when needed, and keep them away from excessive humidity and moisture. Long straight wool Icelandic sheepskins can be brushed as needed.
Shorn sheepskins rarely need brushing and usually require only a quick shake. Curly Icelandic sheepskins should never be brushed but should be vigorously shook periodically to restore their loft and beautiful wool.Description
One-of-a-Kind Shorn Spotted Icelandic Sheepskin
Naturally distinctive. Undyed. Completely unrepeatable.
Bold dark spotting gives this one-of-a-kind shorn Icelandic sheepskin a graphic natural character. Despite its generous width, the hide remains supple enough to drape comfortably while also lying flat enough for use as a small rug.
The wool is shorn to approximately 1¾″, creating a soft, dense surface that clearly displays the contrast between the lighter ground color and darker natural markings. Its pliable leather backing gives the piece unusual versatility.
Because these natural spotted hides vary so dramatically, this sheepskin is listed individually. The exact sheepskin pictured is the exact one you will receive. Its markings are entirely natural and cannot be duplicated.
Use it on the floor when you want the complete spotting pattern visible, or drape it over a chair, sofa, or bench for a softer architectural accent.
This is an Unrepeatable Collection piece. Once sold, this exact sheepskin cannot be duplicated.
